Class Policies & Procedures:
Locations & Procedures
Classes in Buffalo will be held in the upstairs classroom at the Buffalo Community Church (194 2nd St W, Buffalo, MT 59418). There is a wheelchair ramp to access this room from outside.
Classes in Lewistown will be held at Balance Studio (513 Janeaux St, Lewistown, MT 59457). This location is accessible including the restroom.
We ask that parents/caregivers help keep children in the classroom space and do not wander to any other room in the building (besides the bathroom).
Parents/caregivers can help keep children from handling any items in the classroom space that are not part of the Music Together® class.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled class time to get settled before class begins.
Be prepared to take your shoes off, put your cell phone away, and bring minimal belongings into class as the only things you’ll need are yourselves and your singing voices!
Class Size
Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 families
We recommend a maximum of two adults per family. If you have a special circumstance and would like to bring more than two adults one day (visiting grandparents, etc.) please notify us in advance (24 hours notice, please).
A minimum number of registered families are required for a class to run each semester. If a class does not meet the minimum requirement, registered families will be offered a spot in another class, pending availability.
Classroom Setting
Floor mats provide cushioning and a non-slip surface for moving around safely. Please keep personal items out of the classroom space and leave toys, stuffed animals, etc. at home.
Many parents and caregivers feel comfortable allowing their little ones to interact freely with other children and adults during class. We are respectful of each family's comfort level and support a judgment-free atmosphere, as long as everyone is SAFE.
We ask all our parents and caregivers to be active participants during class – not only in music–making, but in helping everyone to feel safe and comfortable participating in this dynamic, musical experience together. We always work to cultivate engaged, kind, and considerate mini communities in each of our classes and appreciate you being part of this effort!
In order to keep everyone safe, our classes are a NO RUNNING zone, except when it is part of a specific classroom activity. We understand that running is developmentally appropriate for children in this age group. When/if running does occur, we ask that parents/caregivers take their children away from the classroom space to meet their "fast feet" needs and then return to class when they are ready to use "slow feet". This is not a punitive measure, rather a proactive way to deter problem situations from developing.
What to Bring (& What to Leave at Home)
Your positive, playful, musical self and your love of being with your child, family and friends!
We will be providing instruments and props for each family in every class. All instruments will be safely and effectively disinfected between use. If you would like to order some instruments for home that are commonly used in the Music Together program around the globe, we suggest the Family Instrument Set in the Music Together website store.
Please do not bring food and drinks into the classroom. No-spill water bottles set off to the side of the room are fine, and nursing and bottle feeding are always welcome.
Please refrain from using your cell phone during class. If you'd like to take a quick photo or video of you and/or your child during class, please do so quickly and limit it to your family members only. Then be sure to put your phone away so as not to disengage from class with your child!
Although Montana is an open carry state, please do not bring weapons of any kind to class. If you feel you absolutely must bring a weapon to a children's class, you must inform the teacher and it must be completely concealed or you must put it in our designated secured space for the duration of class.
Bathroom
There is a clean bathroom (and a changing table at the Buffalo location) available to our class attendees. *Note that the bathroom is downstairs in the Buffalo church and not wheelchair accessible. We apologize for any inconvenience in this regard.
Absences & Make-Ups
If you need to miss class due to illness or conflict, please mark your absence in advance in the family portal, thereby automatically making any vacant spots available for a family needing a make-up spot.
We offer unlimited make-ups (space permitting) on an as-needed basis. These must be reserved in the family portal on our website, and you must have marked your absence(s) in advance. Make-ups must be scheduled during the semester in which the absence(s) occurred unless a special arrangement is made in advance with our center director.
Health Policy
Do not come to class if you, your child, or anyone in your party are sick with any kind of illness.
Contingency Plan for Change
Please note that if for any reason we need to revise any aspect of our classes, policies, or procedures, changes will be immediately communicated to participating families.
Check out the News section of our website or our Facebook page for updates.
